EEGs and other physiological measurements were carried out on students of a public senior high school, where a qigong lesson was adopted as part of the physical education program. Although enrollment in the qigong class was open to only the second and the third year students, the measurements were performed on several students for each of thethree years each semester. As the first and second year students atthe first measurement are still participating in the study this year, the results reported here are of one-year-progress for three third year students who graduated from school in March 2003. The alpha amplitude on the occipital area became gradually larger with repetition of the measurements. Relaxation level of the subjects seemed to go up with each measurement. Lag time of alpha phase of the frontal to the occipital region became slightly shorter during qigong, compared with in the resting state; it could be considered the subjects concentrated on qigong practice. However, trends of the changes for measurements were different for two methods of qigong. Further analysis will be made with additional data of other students.
