This paper reported that an obligate thermophile A sub 4-3 (enterobac-teriaceae Rahn), having optimum growth temperature of 50 degrees C - 60 degrees C, growing weakly at 40 degrees C and 70 degrees C, and unable to grow at temperature below 37 degrees C, changed in its genetic characteristic after external qi treatment of qigong master. We only chose the growth temperature range as index from variational characters in this experiment, and screen the mutant, which growth temperature was decreased.

In order to confirm the strain grow well at 55 degrees C, and unable to grow below 37 degrees C, single colony isolation, growth temperature examination and external qi imitation by common person have been done before doing experiment. The control also has two groups, one is synchronized with external qi treatment, another is really control, which growth temperature was not changed before or after test.

More than ten experiments have been done, four of them were getting successful in growth temperature changed. There are three types of variations:

1. Growth temperature range decreased to 30 degrees C - 55 degrees C, while the untreated control remain unchanged;

2. Variations occurred both in external qi treatment and in untreatment control, but rather different in their growth temperature range, 12 degrees C - 50 degrees C for the former and 12 degrees C - 45 degrees C for the later;

3. Same growth temperature variations occurred in both external qi treatment and untreated control, resulting in 28 degrees C (or 37 degrees C) - 55 degrees C.

The result indicated that the obligate thermophile strain could be induced to facultative thermophile and facultative mesophile simultaneously by external qi treatment. Concerning the effects of external qi are not in good agreement and the appearance of the variation in the untreated control during qigong external qi test, it is suggested that might be due to the characteristic effect of the qigong external qi.
