Heart rate variation analysis (HRVE) was applied to observe the functional changes of the autonomic nerve before and after 'Tiao Xi, Tiao Zin, Tiao Shen Qigong' in Qigong masters. HRVA was done by two methods of time domain and frequency domain.

The ± results showed:

1. Under the status of 'Tiao Shen', HRV showed no significant variation.

2. Under the status of 'Tiao Xi',the activities of the sympathetic nerve increased and LF,LF/HF obviously enlarged. But there was no significant difference in RR. The results indicate that the regulation of the autonomic nerve by the respiration in Qigong can be mainly manifested by the regulation of the moment heart rate.

3. Under the status of 'Tiao Xin Qigong', HF SDNN obviously enlarged rate is decreased. The autonomic nervous function is vagal activity increase
