Report on the 46th Annual Convention of the Parapsychological Association and Institutes in San Francisco

The author attended the 46th Annual Convention of the Parapsychological Association (PA) form August 1st to 4th, 2003. It was held at Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver, Canada PA is an academic society focused on psi chiefly among various interesting phenomena such as hypnosis, meditation, qigong, healing or reincarnation. Many members of PA are lived in Europe and North America. Therefore, the annual convention is held in Europe or North America in alternate years. The last convention was held at the Institut Metapsychique International (IMI) in Paris, which is the oldest institute for parapsychology. Next convention will be held in Vienna, 2004 August. PA is a typical society to treat parapsychology as a kind of behavior sciences, which trend was raised after Rhine's revolution. Methodology and philosophy in PA are often referred as a standard. The author will note some recent research trends in PA. In addition, the author will present a few institutes in San Francisco, USA, for example, the Institute for Frontier Science which is activated by the budget from NIH.
