Method for conducting microarray study of oxidative stress induced gene expression Author: Subbaram S, Melendez JA, Chittur SV Affiliation: Center for Immunology & Microbial Disease, Albany College of Medicine, Albany, NY, USA Conference/Journal: Methods Mol Biol. Date published: 2009 Other: Issue ID: 477 , Pages: 357-68 , Word Count: 76 Cellular systems produce reactive oxygen species during the process of metabolism. Oxidative stress results in the activation or repression of many genes in important signaling pathways. DNA microarrays allow for a high throughput evaluation of the changes in gene expression levels in any biological system. In this study, we describe a method to employ gene expression microarrays to study the transcriptional changes in redox-engineered cell lines that will overexpress MnSOD and/or catalase in the mitochondria.
