Study of molecular biology of functional mechanism of emitted qi on proteins Author: Zhang Fengde//Zhao Jing//Yue Huiqin//Liu Guiqin//Liu Anxi Affiliation: Dept Biology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China [1] Conference/Journal: 3rd Nat Acad Conf on Qigong Science Date published: 1990 Other: Pages: 62 , Word Count: 207 The functional mechanism of qigong on the organism was studied at the molecular level by UV spectrophotometer and spectrofluorophotometer. The zero- and second-order derivative spectra of bovine serum albumin and calf thymus DNA have been measured from 13 samples received qigong waiqi. The DNA contests of chick red blood cells (RBCs) have been examined after qigong takes effect on these compounds. The absorbancy of bovine serum albumin increases or reduces at 280nm, its increment to be 0.013-0.088A. There are three small peaks between 222-228nm in the second-order derivative spectra, which positions were 221, 225 and 226nm respectively. In 10 out of 13, the absorbance of calf thymus DNA increases by 3.99-11.76%, but in 3 out of 13 samples, it decreases by 2.10-8.16%. The second-order derivative spectra of the DNA have also been changed, four small peaks appear at 240-247nm, and the characteristic peak position of its 225nm shifts 1-2nm toward short wavelength. The content of nucleic acids in a nuclei of RBCs increased greatly, DNA increased approximately by 2-fold, but RNA appro. by 12-fold. According to the evidence mentioned above, we suggest that molecular form of protein and DNA in the solution was changed, so that qigong can be a cure of the sickness and promote health of a person.
