Mind, body, and beyond: a phenomenological theory of the interaction of qi flowing in the meridians of the human body and its application to touch therapy

    A vector model is proposed for representing the flow of Qi in the meridians of human body.  When two meridians are brought next to each other, depending on the nature of the meridians being YIN (Chinese character) or YANG(Chinese character), and the direction of flow being parallel or anti parallel, the interaction can be either BU(Chinese character) or XIE(Chinese character) or mutually reinforcing or reducing respectively.

We shall define such a vector, a biological vector, abbreviated bio. v. A unit of YIN bio. v. is represented by -->, and a unit of YANG bio. v., by __>, each of unit length to represent the Qi is of unit strength. The various types of interactions depend on the nature and relative orientation of the interacting bio. vs. shall be discussed for their mutual effects being BU or XIE.

Such a theory can be conveniently applied to touch therapy.  A healer lays his hands on the patient's  body, or holds his hand still near the body of the patient.  Depending on the type of interaction being BU or XIE, the corresponding therapeutic effect will be induced in the patient.  However, since the interaction is mutual, it is advisable that the healer should be a stronger person than the patient in order that the healer himself would not be hurt.  A person can also do it on himself.  We shall call it 'Auto Touch Healing.'  A few clinical cases will be discussed.
