Methods: The study was carried out in 87 subjects, 10-12 years. The subjects were divided into two groups, Qigong group, 45 subjects with mental handicap(select six actions which can be finished in one and a half minutes, came from Qigong once a day, for five months), and control group, 42 subjects with mental handicap. All subjects received 15 indexes of elementary intelligence and cognitive ability test before and after the trial. Results: The level of intelligence of Qigong group was improved by 20.6% compared to the control group 16.7%. But the difference of improved rate had no statistical significance. Conclusion: Intelligence of adolescents with mental handicap can be improved by exercising Qigong. But because the study was only a qualitative one not a quantitative one, the study needs to be investigated for conclusive evidence.
