Research on the relationship between immunity of human body and physical training, taijiquan and qigong Author: Huang Yan Affiliation: Sun Yat-Sun University of Medical Sciences, China [1] Conference/Journal: 2nd Int Conf on Qigong Date published: 1989 Other: Pages: 36 , Word Count: 219 In order to explore the effect of qigong, taijiquan and physical training on well healthy and anti-infectious ability of human body we studied their mode of action by means of humoral immunity determination. The persons participated in this investigation were divided into two groups (qigong group 30 persons, taijiquan group 40). All of them are college students who have never been performed with such training and have no chronic or acute infection just before the duration of training is one month. Both groups are required to do common physical exercises besides their own corresponding special training. Immune globulins (IgG, IgA, IgM, Complement C3, and saliva lysozyme were assayed before and after treatment. The results Are listed in table, expressed in mean number. Qigong group Taijiquan group Before After Before After IgG (mg/ml) 13.64 16.00 12.64 17.83 IgA (mg/ml) 1.98 2.10 1.35 2 13 IgM (mg/ml) 1.47 1.46 1.44 1.71 Complement C3 (mg/ml) 0.78 0.85 0.66 0.98 Saliva lysozyme (mg/ml) 234.38 385.00 255.00 396.43 The results showed that: the contents of serum complement C3 and saliva lysozyme in qigong group were increased significantly after one month training (0.01 < p < 0.05; and p < 0.01 respectively). In taijiquan group the contents of IgG, IgA, IgM and saliva lysosyme were also increased (p < 0.01). From these data obtained in five immunologic criteria, it was suggested that both qigong or taijiquan training would enhance the function of humoral immunity of human body.
