An experimental study of the effect of the emitted qi on arrest of radiated rat bone marrow Author: Feng Lida//Chen Shuying//Zhu Lina Affiliation: Immunology Research Center, Navy Hospital Beijing 100037 Conference/Journal: 4th World Conf Acad Exch Med Qigong Date published: 1998 Other: Pages: 113-114 , Word Count: 362 With the development of science and technology, nuclear energy is extensively used in economic, defense and health fields. Though we have paid attention to the problem about radiated injury, there is still no ideal method to treat it. It is nearly 20 years since we went to work on Qigong immunology. We've found the emitted Qi can be well applied to medicine, so the study of the effect of the emitted Qi on arrest of radiated rat bone marrow was designed to: a. culture hemotopoietic ancestral cell observe the experimental labels for granulocyte series, erythron, macrophage system and mixed cell systems Good results have been obtained. Compared with the normal group after 7 days' radiation, both the Experimental Group and Control Group illustrated that the cell colony was obviously less than that of the normal group, but the decreased range of the two groups was different. In the experimental group all the labels were lower than the control group. If the value of them in the normal group was 100%, the decreased rates in the control were as follows: c. granulocyte series: 44.5%, 69.5% d. metarubriate: 46%, 73% e. prorubricyte series: 33%, 42% f. macrophage system: 44%, 73% mixed cell system: 39%, 59% - the former was in the experimental group, the later in the control groups The cell aggregations were increased after 14 days' radiation. The Experimental Group's increasing trend was higher than the control group and all labels returned to normal. But in the Control Group, only two labels returned to normal. Comparing the two Groups, the granulocyte series, prorubricyte series, and macrophage system were significantly different; metarubricyte, mixed cell system were significantly different. Under an electronic microscope it was shown that injury to the Control Group was serious, and the apoptotic hematopoietic cells clearly appeared, different apoptotic shapes presenting in early, middle and late phases. Nucleus showed condensation, accumulation just inside the nuclear membrane, disappearance of the structure formation of several tyknosis masses, or of apoptotic body. The Experimental Groups suffered less injury. Early staged apoptotic hematopoietic cells were rarely seen. The results above demonstrate that the emitted Qi may protect the radiating injury, enhance recovery of the function of hematopoiesis, which provides a reliable experimental evidence for the emitted Qi clinical application.
