  • Practice and Services:
I am a doctor of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (Advanced) -- graduate of Shanghai University of TCM – and provide acupuncture and related services to NHS general practices, and receive GP referrals. Concerning these medical practice services I provide acupuncture, Tui Na / Chinese medical message, auricular acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and specialist health-care exercises [medical qigong] for patients suffering from a wide range of medical conditions (stress, hyper and hypotension, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, back pain, and others). I provide through my medical qigong and internal Chinese therapeutic arts teaching organisation, Qi China International, a range of teaching services. These include general medical Tai Chi and medical Qigong relaxation classes. Special seminars for participants suffering from a range of specific medical conditions (back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, etc). Seminars and workshops for health care professionals (including NHS GP’s and physiotherapists), chiropractors and complementary and alternative medicine practitioners. I also provide special teaching services to groups suffering from mental wellness issues, and my teaching organisation receives grants from UK public funding organisations for these and works closely with the UK mental health charity MIND. Qi China International works directly with the UK National Health Service [NHS] and higher education establishments such as Bournemouth University in the fields of CPD, and research projects that further recognition of the special contribution TCM and medical qigong can provide to Western Conventional Medicine. An example of the latter includes a collaborative medical research project with the Bournemouth University Clinical Trials Team into the use of acupressure and specialist forms of qigong for post-operative breast cancer patients. Qi China International is also at the forefront of developing Continuing Professional Development [CPD]services / courses for UK complementary and alternative medicine practitioners and Qigong and Tai Chi instructors. This work is carried out in conjunction with the UK British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP) and Institute of Natural and Complementary Medicine [ICNM]. I am a technical advisor to the ICNM, and have contributed articles to their nationally renowned Journal: Qi China International works closely with the ICNM at a national level in furthering CAM best practise standards and CPD provision. I am also a founder of and technical advisor to a UK [Dorset-based] multicultural learning charitable organisation, the Oriental Culture Educational Society. This organisation is chaired by my colleague Alan Mercel-Sanca, Honorary Secretary of Qi China International, and enjoys the direct support of public service organisations such as the Bournemouth and Poole NHS Primary Care Trust, the Race Equality Council, the Citizens Advice Bureau [CAB], Dorset Police, local councils and Bournemouth University.
